Geekoto Tripod AT24Pro Customer Questions & Answers

1.Q: Can I use it to take both landscape and portrait shots? I often take both

A: Yes,sure. It's convenient to carry and long enough. You can take both landscape and portrait shots.

2.Q: Without handle how to you turn smoothly when shooting video?

A: This one has a ball head, but if you want smooth panning (turning), it is recommended to buy a tripod with a “Fluid Head”. The fluid head tripod comes with the handle you are speaking of.

3.Q: Has anyone used this as a rifle tripod?

A: I dont believe this is strong enough to support a rifle. Its a travel tripod, and only weighs 3.5 lbs. If it were me, I would find something a bit more robust.

4.Q: Is the head removable and does it use a universal mount? If the plate is plastic I'm open to replacing it with a better head.

A: The head is removable. It also has a plastic quick-release plate. The good news is that it will accept any Arca-Swiss universal plates, so I just used the metal one I normally keep on my camera.

5.Q: Are the leg angle adjusters plastic, or metal?

A: The angle adjusters are of excellent quality. They are plastic but they're so well made they seem like metal or aluminum.

6.Q: I have had issues adjusting my tripod when taking precise photos, such as shooting the moon. Is this ball head easy and precise?

A: The ball head has a nice smooth resistance to it. It pans very smoothly. I've had no issues shooting the moon but if you're trying to get a tight shot of the craters, it might get difficult. Take a look at paring this tripod up with the Orion 7033 Precision Slow-Motion Adapter. I hope this helps?

7.Q: Can you adjust from portrait to landscape? and what are the weight limit for the lens?

A: 1) well yes it's a very adjustable unit. But its main designation is as a travel/hiking tripod 2) Weight limit for lens? Well I mount my tamron 150-600mm on my Nikon D810 without any reservations. Have also mounted a old Nikon 80-200mm 2.8 D which in all metal and can double as a weapon also without any problems. Hope this helped.

8.Q: Can this also be used as a desk tripod?

A: Yes. With the legs completely compact you could easily put it on a tabletop to shoot but the camera would not be near the surface of the table. It would be about 30 inches off the surface. You can reverse the center pole and hang the camera upside down to get closer to the tabletop. The tripod is meant to do that. The Geekoto is a great tripod in any event.

9.Q: How is the quality of it?

A: I’d say for a travel pod, it’s pretty good. If the hardware pieces(head) was heavier you’d notice. It’s light weight for travel. So I’m ok w the quality because the weight is reduced.
